I'm a simple fellow.. with simple needs.. simple tastes.. and a simple mind.. i like my music fast and my cars faster.. is that cheesy enough?
I bought this one brand new in Feb of 05 and was convinced that since it wasn't a honda it would immediately fall apart. Well it hasn't and it's actually a WHOLE lot of car for very little cash. I would reccomend anyone that has a heavy foot but only around a 17k limit to work with, head to your nissan dealer once the 07s come out and pick up one of the 2 spec-Vs that will be left sitting on their lot. This car has yet to see an auto-x but I did take it up to Mid-America Motorplex just outside of Omaha. It's a smaller track, with no concrete walls and all grass run offs. Luckily I never had to use those run offs and once I figured out that my car could do far more on the tires that I put on it.. the day was mine.. best birthday present ever.
Ever since I first layed eyes on a restored 79 honda civic 1500 I knew that I had to have one. Now that I have done some research over the years I have found the early 80s models to be quite nice as well.
The plan would be to take an "Elanor" mustang body kit like the one
from gone in 60 seconds.. and cut it down to fit a this honda.. and
then proceed to piss off every mustang owner I roll past.
Also I saw one online somewhere that had been through a restoration and
the guy had replaced the suspension and engine with that of a late 80s
CRX-si.. and that sounds like fun as well.
Update: 08/29/07
Well as of today I know for certain that this car will be parked in my garage by Sunday, Sept 9th. It's the red one in the pictures. Since I first posted this as my dream car, I have come to the realization that in order to get "Elanor" to the point where I can feel comfortable calling her that.. there's gonna be some time involved. Enter, Rat's Rod.
Call it staging, phases, or whatever you want. The first step towards making mustang owners throw things at me... is to make real rat rod builders and owners laugh at me. I'm thinking, dark gray primer, red rims with chrome centers, white walls, pinstripes.. yeah.. the whole nine.
The car has plenty of rust but none through the metal. It runs, but not well. So I have my work and my money cut out for me. But she will rise from the ashes of her past and become the car of my dreams, this I swear. Of course I will keep a record of my restoration / upgrading here on boompa. Hopefully someone besides me will care.
This car was my baby. Bought it brand new in 2000 and put 143k on it before I traded it in and got $4,500 for it. Gotta love hondas.
