Seat Belts for your Dogs

About this Guide

Step 1: Overview

This guide shows the seat belt harness that Ethan uses to keep his dogs Marty and Izabelle safe. To be honest, I think he uses them just as much to keep the dogs settled and in the back of the car then anything else.

The star of this show though is Marty and we'll use him as the stunt dog in this guide.

Step 2: Not for Personal Use

The harness used was bought from petco. It's just a normal small dog seat belt that you can find pretty easily for about 20 bucks at any major pet store.

Note, these are not for personal use unless you are really into S&M.

Step 3: Stap in your Dog

The harness fits around your dog's chest area. You want to attach the harness to the dog before you attach the harness to the seat belt.

Step 4: Make it tight and secure

Here's a closeup of snap that you'll need to close when you are finished. Make sure that you make it tight around your pup otherwise this whole process is pretty pointless as they'll either just jump out of it or not be protected in a crash.

Step 5: Attach the harness to the belt

Now that you have your harness secure, slip the belt through the back of the harness and secure it to the holster as you normally would around yourself.

Step 6: You're done

Your dog is now secure and set to ride with you anywhere. Ethan's got two dogs so so usually straps up both dogs. For the most part they are pretty happy in them but some dogs (like Izabelle) get a little bitchy if they are in there too long.
