Hey folks. Dave and I just launched another site. It's a comic book encylcopedia that anyone can edit. www.comicvine.com. If you're interested in Comic or Superheros this site is for you. And if you dont know anything about Comics or Superheros, swing over check out the site, it's wicked fun to look through. We've got tons of pictures and bios.
Yeah and vote for Superman Vs. Batman Vs. Hulk etc etc.

Hey everyone.
Dave and I made it into this Sunday's San Francisco Chronicle, in the Style Section. I guess we have style?
Article by Aaron Britt.
Butch and Sundace. Dave is Redford to my Newman.
Jory Squibb built a 100 mph car from a couple of scooters. You can check out his How To Here. Looks like his site doesn't have the pictures anymore, bummer. I would love to see Jory pop over to our site and create a how to in our Guides section.
He also seems to be Open Source!
"This manual intentionally doesn’t have any copywrite. Please pass it on freely. Isn’t it sad that such a simple vehicle, which could be mass produced for $5000 or so, which awaits no fancy fuel cells nor high-tech breakthroughs, isn’t available to the public? My thanks to you for helping to bring an obvious concept to light! As you watch gas prices move on to $4 and $5 a gallon, your long labors will seem worthwhile, and you’ll be glad to be rolling light."
I saw this article on CNET and Gizmodo
Was just thinking about Kit Cars and ran across this article The return of the kit car.
A boompa member -- dave7 -- is building a kit car right now. A Locust. He's going to use a Mazda Miata engine and transmission and parts from plenty of other cars as well.
Locust - Lotus 7 clone.
I'd like to see some more cars here on Boompa that are kits. Wether they be clones and trying to stick as close as budgetarily possible to the original or something that is just a one off and far out there.
Here's a site devoted to Kitcars: http://www.kitcars.com/ If you scroll down you'll see some Lotus 7 replicas. Looks like some porsches and morgans too.
I guess some kit cars are nothing more than horrible body kits, like when people take a Feiro and make it in to a fake Ferarri. Yeah tasteless. But some of the kits, like the Locust is totally in tune with Colin Chapman's original take on selling kit cars as a business.
Anyway maybe we can convince dave7 to create some howto Guides here on Boompa and share his adventures in building.
Thought this was funny. Someone wants to "clone" Boompa.com and is willing to pay for it!

Just thought I'd let you all know that my wife had a baby girl on September 4th. Her name is Ingrid. She has a full head of black hair and everyone says she looks more like me than her mom! Labor was 24 hours long; from 1am to 1am.
Baby Ingrid
Here's my album on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/dudelance/sets/72157594271333763/
I'll be out of the office for a couple weeks but I will be checking in on the site and email everyday.
Ok you can make fun of me and my first podcast interview. Thanks to Robert over at The Truth about Cars for going easy on me. Check out all the podcasts he's done.
http://thetruthaboutcars.com/?p=2106
He asked me about car blogging toward the end and it kinda took me off guard. Dunno know why. You prolly cant notice it. Blah blah.
Anyhoo thanks to The Truth about Cars.
Oh and the Vette the featured on their site is Stergios!
I've been tooling around one of my new favorite car sites lately, pistonheads.com, and landed on their coverage of Lotus' bio ethanol powered Exige 265E. It's a modified to guzzle down ethanol instead of gasoline. Apparenlty ethanol has a much higher octane rating, 106-110 RON, and also burns cleaner. Meaning more power, less guilt.
"The Lotus Exige 265E now produces 264 hp at 8,000rpm, and 184lb-ft of torque at 5500 rpm, up by 46 hp or 21 per cent and 25lb-ft or 16 percent over the standard petrol / gasoline Exige S"
Apparently in 2007 Honda powered Indy Cars will be running on 100% ethanol, that's pretty cool. The article points out that you burn more ethanol per mile than gas.
Also check out our battle between the Ethanol Exige and the Electric Tesla Roadster. Kinda pointless, but fun:

Car and Driver's website has nice pictures of the Z4 M Coupe and the Cayman S. Droools :)=
There is no way I would ever buy or want to be seen in a Z4 but this... this is different. The Z4 M Coupe is gourgeous, at least from most angles. Basically I just love coupes over convertibles anyday.
Remember the Z3 roadster? Ugly. Then they made the hardtop version: the M Coupe! Such a gorgeous car.
Oh yeah and the Cayman is really really nice.
Diesel and Electric power seem to be showing up more and more in the blogosphere. Check out the latest Diesel 300+ mph landspeed record and of course that gorgeous electric Sports Car by Tesla Mortors.
So I did a quick search on how a diesel engine works and landed on howstuffworks.com
Here are some pretty cool guides with nice flash animations to show what's happening inside an engine.

Diesel 4 Stroke Engine:

I'd love to get some guides like this on our site. We have a "Guides" tab at the top of the page where any user can submit a text or a photo based step by step guide. The guide that I want on Boompa.com right now is 'how to convert your car to bio diesel'.
If anyone has done that, please share your knowledge with the community here!
