I bought this as part of a 4 car package deal. 4 non-running Alfas and a blown porsche 911 motor for $4500. This guy had moved to a house boat and finally cleaning out the garage at his old house. My "friends divied up the other cars and I kept the 83. We got 3 of the 4 cars running that day and drove them home. There were various stops along the way for over heating and fuel problems. The last GTv6 was dragged onto a flat bed. I recently gave this car to a friend because I couldn't find anyone to buy it. Ridiculous..
That is a strange strange story. Beautiful car. :)
Great car and its got a nice story to go along with it. Character!
I've actuallly been considering finding one of these to buy. They have absolutely no following, are extremely rare, and are nothing but trouble. But thats kind of why I like them. Call me masochistic i guess.
How it was Used: Grabbed a running 2.5 '87 Milano engine when the original smoked itself to death. Identical to original after swapping electronics.
Price Paid: $500
1989 944 Silver/Black int.
Last year replaced the 2.7 with a 1995 968 3.0 variocam engine. 25 MPG! Used S2 flywheel+clutch. added ECU power to empty "phone" spot at fusebox.
Mounted oil cooler near S2 location behind passenger
side valance.
Extra engines:
'87 2.5 turbo, (fuel rail fire victim)powerhaus turbo /pipes/chips survived.
'89 2.7, (I though it had a rod knock. turned out to be decaying pressure plate slapping the bell housing. 160k on it so a rebuild would be a good idea.
Anyone want to take all of it and make a 968 RS turbo engine? 3.0 block/maf/cpu + 2.7head + turbo and exhaust (3" stainless)
Complete suspension and brake upgrade! This Mustang knows how to do two things ford forgot to teach it! Stop and turn! Engine rebuild 12/06.
Converted shuttle bus. Added 2800 watt inverter powered by four 6 volt golf cart batteries.
Has 12 and 24v alternators. Battery life is about 18 hours of playing video games on an xbox.
