This is Virgil "Gus" Grissom's 1967 Corvette that was recently put up on Ebay.
Grissom, the second American in space, and the first American to travel into space twice, was also one of the first to die in the U.S. space program. His Corvette went through four owners before winding up with Jim Falkowski, who purchased the Corvette in 1985 for $9,995. During Jim's ownership, the Corvette won many awards including NCRS Top Flight, multiple Cypress Gardens, the National Corvette Homecoming in Bowling Green and has been featured in numerous magazines, news articles and calendars.
I love this interior!
What a coincidence, came across this last week. I just checked again and after starting at $100,000.00, the auction ended today at $310,100.00 WITHOUT meeting the reserve!?
Amazing, looks like someone's holding out for some big bucks. Personally, I think it's a ploy to get more money when they send it out here to Barret-Jackson at the end of the year. They can say, look it's worth over $310,100.00 - the funny part is... it don't even have A/C ;)
That is a beautiful car!!
Incredible car, excellent condition! Makes me go "wow" over and over! It's pure perfection.
If there is one thing I like better on mine it has to be the wheels, but I'd trade your engine against mine anytime. Interested? ;-)
