The Wildcat was Buick's full sized high perfomance model. The Wildcat name originally appeared on three seperate versions of special show cars that were handcrafted in the 1950's for the famous GM Autorama show circuit. Those were known as the Wildcat I, II, and III. The later production models of the 60's and 70's shared similar sheetmetal as the Le Sabre line but were built on the longer platform of the Electra models. The 'Cats were equipped with bigger engines plus heavier duty drivelines, suspensions, and brakes than the lesser Le Sabre models. For a while these unique cars were marketed as "the banker's hot rod". The model line started out as an offshoot of the Invicta line, which it eventually replaced, only to be dropped after 1970 with the introduction of the Centurian model. Gm later resurrected the Wildcat name for a special prototype rear-engined car that was built in 1985, but it was never marketed. (edit this text)

I have not heard of the Wildcat before. But I can appreciate its proportions.
Yes, Ethan, the proportions are a bit on the generous side by today's standards but these were considered "full-sized" cars back in their day.
